The international journal of scientific technological publications Cutting and Tooling in Technological Systems was founded by the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" (NTU "KhPI"), at the Department of Metal Cutting and Cutting Tools, now M.F. Semko Department of Integrated Engineering Technologies in 1966 (Certificate of the State Committee for Information Policy, Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine KV ¹ 7840 dated 08.09.2003). The NTU "KhPI" has been the publisher of the journal since its inception. The publications are issued in Ukrainian, Russian, English and German.

The editor-in-chief of the journal is Dr. Anatoly Ivanovich Grabchenko, Professor of Engineering, Head of M.F. Semko Department of Integrated Engineering Technologies of NTU ‘KPI’, Honoured Science Worker of Higher Education of Ukraine, Academician of Higher Education Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, State Prize-Winner of Ukraine and Crimea

The international scientific and technical journal has been rewritten and approved as a scientific edition of technological sciences, in which lecturers, research assistants, graduate students and competitors for an academic degree get the opportunity to publish scientific articles and degree work results, and the opportunity to exchange scientific and practical information in Ukraine and abroad.

The international scientific journal is registered in the International registration system of serial publications issued under the standardized code ISSN 2078-7405. An electronic copy is posted on the homepage of NTU "KhPI".

The journal contains scientific publications, covering the pressing issues of machine processing of various modern materials using highly productive technologies, innovative methods, measuring devices for surface quality control and effective machine tools. The problems of optimization and mathematical simulation at different stages of technological process are presented in the journal.

The journal cooperates actively with well-known scientific schools of Ukraine (Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsya, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Sumy), Austria, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Romania, Russia, Hungary etc.
