Title of Proposal:
LazArt Unifyer for LED’s Light

  Proposed Technical Approach

Simple and thin combining element was proposed and tested in a form of hand-made mock-up.  Light source has dimensions 400x300x50mm, total weight not more than 0,5-1kg and equipped with 18 white LEDs (with luminous intensity declaired by producer in 8-10cd each, total retail price of 20 LEDs - $2,5, device structure provides a possibility of their number increase not less the 5 times for said dimensions without any problems) and it intended to be (to tell the truth, not very successfully, as will be seen later from directional diagram) symmetrical along it’s long axis. Device design was made based on general physics formulae (starting from the aim to fill the region between 150 and 30 degrees in directional diagram as uniformly as possible) without any special optical software use (because Demo versions available can not help in this case), so there is enough space for design perfection, as well as in materials used and device details production accuracy and adjustment.  Nevertheless measured directional diagram (Fig. 1) seems good enough for only 3rd device version. The diagram shown was measured with  photodiode (1cm aperture, 1,5m from device centre) after checking photodiode’s linearity region (up to 100mV, and mV is that very “arb.unit” denoted at Fig. 1). Background signal from not perfect room darkening was about 4-5mV and was subtracted before diagram building.

Fig.1. Estimations based on really produced (worldwide) elements with almost similar structure and made from suitable material give for proposed ones (with appropriately changed parameters) price not more than $18 and weight not more than 3-5kg for requested by client 120x30cm dimensions; other production technologies (with even less starting investments and production cost but with more maintenance cost for end user are possible. Fig. 2 shows a view of light intensity distribution from device under discussion, oriented upside down, so that white matt ceiling in a dark room was used as a screen. Camera was Canon PowerShot A1000IS, original pictures set ( 3,6x2,7Mpix, 2.22Mb) is available on request.

Theoretically calculated optical efficiency of configuration proposed is more than needed 70%. Experimental evaluation vill need about a week and can be provided by request.

Proposed Budget

Unfortunately I have no business experience in this field outside former USSR, but I hope that declared $100000 will be enough.

Proposed condition

Joint development and/or patenting.

Your organization’s business model/proposed position on intellectual property developed during sponsored project and proposed materials

I act as a private person in this development so I can propose the following: client company hires me for the time of project development with remuneration correspondent to my education/experience and negotiable compensation in case of successful invention implementation
